Ashwagandha Boosts Ojas and Vitality
Ashwagandha boosts ojas and vitality, the state of being in which you are full of life and energy. Ojas represents physical and mental strength and is the life force that allows you to continually grow and live a purposeful life. It means you are energized, healthy and good spirited. When you are vital, you are embodying your best self.
Ayurveda’s word for vitality is known as ojas and is the essence that strengthens all life, both physically and mentally. It is the very essence of well-being. A person’s ojas is measured by examining a person’s physical strength, immunity to illness, and mental happiness.
The essence of ojas lies dormant inside both the male sperm and female ovum. After conception, ojas manifests as the first physical form within the uterus. It is the basic constituent for the forming embryo and is nourished from its essence. Once a child is born, nourishment comes from the food that is digested and broken down into nutrients that forms all tissues of the body.
Throughout life, ojas can be continually strengthened if the person has good digestion and chooses high quality nutrient dense foods. Any deviation in the normal quantity or quality of ojas will cause illnesses and even death if too much is lost.
