Quality/Sustainability

Superior Quality

At Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala we take no shortcuts in ensuring the manufacturing and delivery of the the highest quality Ayurvedic products to our customers. All of our products are produced in state-of-the art manufacturing plants that follow basic principles and practices of Ayurvedic preparations based on the specifications in the classical text books. All processing activities are done in pharmaceutical grade stainless steel vessels.

Quality Assurance

All of the products go through numerous rigorous quality checks. Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala's quality department oversees scientific laboratory testing in conjunction with Arya Vaidya Sala’s Center for Medicinal Plants Research (CMPR). Quality Assurance includes testing for microbial stability and heavy metals and is performed on both raw materials and finished products.

DNA-level-mapping

The Center for Medicinal Plants Research (CMPR) was initiated by Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala in June 2002 for extensive identification and DNA-level-mapping of individual herbs. This has been done to ensure protection from adulteration or mistake by the use of another herb with similar characteristics in a product.

Sustainable Sourcing

The efficacy of Ayurvedic products from India is critically dependent on an uninterrupted availability of raw herbs. Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala is dedicated to sustainable sourcing of these precious herbs taking into consideration the scarcity of more than 100 Ayurvedic plants. 80-90% of the ingredients of Ayurvedic products manufactured in Kerala are herbs gathered from the forest by traditional families of herb gatherers. In the event an herb becomes temporarily unavailable as it may be out of season, Kottakal Arya Vaidya Sala stops production till the herb is available.

In addition, Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala is committed to strengthening the natural resources versus depleting them, through the following continued efforts:

  1. Cultivation of threatened plants
  2. Extension activities
  3. Ecological conservation
  4. Botanical identification to test against adulteration
  5. Reference publications
  6. Scientific research
